DCP Updates Utah Legislature on FY2026 Enforcement

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Director of the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (DCP), Katie Hass and the Assistant Director, Blake Young, updated the Utah Legislature on enforcement and education activities accomplished during the fiscal year of 2026 by DCP. Hass and Young spoke to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee meeting and the Business and Labor Interim Committee meeting, identifying the most common complaints made to DCP and the various types of scams faced by Utahns.

Enforcement highlights for FY2026 include:

– More than $2.2 million recovered for consumers
– 1,864 cases were closed
– 3399 new business registrations
– 5684 calls logged
– 49% of all cases were closed in 30 days or less
– 70% of all cases were closed in 60 days or less
– Only 5% of cases took more than 180 days to close

4. Auto-Parts Sales/Repairs/Restoration
5. Travel/Vacations – Appliance Sales
6. Services
7. Business Opportunities
8. Home Protection – Alarms/Cameras
9. Home Furnishings
10. Property Management /Landlord
